It looks like an Issue from Taiwan.Not sure of what type of stamp it is.Local,fiscal,tax or something else... |

I think that's a good start! I looked at Ebay and there is only one Taiwan revenue. It's a totally different stamp but has the same "Sun" pattern at the top center of the stamp. |

I tried identifying the building.I thought it could be Shanghai but it is not exactly the same. The main old building in Taipei does not look like that either.Then there is Nanking no. I think we are in the right area. I am going to change direction and see if I can research the purple diamond cancel. This pair looks like it was part of a larger block, so maybe some type of parcel or railroad stamp.I can just see the first symbol in the cancel. |

Found this on the net Under Formosa(No other info). So it is part of a serie.The purple handstamps would mean revenue usage of some type.Documents,passports ...ect  |

Well Mystery solved! It is a revenue stamp from Taiwan. Thanks everyone! That was fun and interesting! I am still going to figure out that diamond purple cancel. I think it maybe a passport cancel. |
