I originally posted the following on the general forum but thought perhaps this one might be more appropriate:

I picked up a 'novelty' item in an antique shop today. It's a metal typeset of a 1961 Russian stamp that was used in the printing a newspaper philately column.

I've attached a photo (sorry for the quality). At top is the typeset metal template and the bottom shows an imprint that was included with the typeset piece. I am wondering if anyone on this forum can tell anything about this item.

The shop had a few more but I got the one. Of course, if someone here tells me they are valuable, I'll be returning to pick up some more.

As stated on your other thread, it is a printing block for a newspaper or catalogue complete with perforations. Genuine Proofs would not show the perforations,

Thanks again pagoda ... I take it these are truly just novelties and not considered philatetic items. And while I suppose people collect these items, do you know if they command much interest or value?

Hah! Except I was apparently interested enough to purchase it (but didn't spend much to be fair).

Interesting items, but not particularly valuable. I have a couple of them myself.

FYI...
These type of things can be found for many of the hobbies, here are a couple of wood/brass Studebaker logo printing blocks.
