Hello stampvirgin, I found a link to the Canal Zone Study Group and emailed to see if they could identify the mark for me. They were certain that this wasn't a Canal Zone mark and weren't sure what it was. Do you or antbody else have any other ideas?
Thanks
david

Update: This is actually going to Bromberg which is in Poland. Sorry for the misread.

I believe this cover was sent from Usch (also spelt "Uscz" at one time) now in the Rhineland Palatinate but probably in Prussian territory when this was sent to Bremberg also now in the Rhineland Palatinate but then either in the Duchy of Nassau if before 1866 or in Prussia if after.

The CZSG are the experts. You will not likely find a better resource than them. I have a bit of CZ material, but have never seen anything like that.

Smauggie, I didn't realize the CZSG was the Canal Zone Study Group. I had already emailed Tom there and he said it was definately not a Canal Zone cover. It is a great group and I got good info from them.
thankd

Hello, I found these 2 pieces of information about the Uscz cancel. I am confused though as to whether there are 2 places called Uscz or Usch or if they are actualy one in the same. I can find a small plaace in Germany called Usch and a town in Polaand c alled Ujscie which appears to have been c alled Usch or Uscz at one time. Can anyone clear this up for me.
Thank you very much
David
