Wow!
I collect Thai, and that stamp is in my "Top 10"
stamps of all time.....wow wow.

The only copy I have is chewed and torn.

Oh dear, covet covet.

That stamp needs to be scanned for full screen width.
Thankfully the Thai decided to go bi-colour on the piddly 50 satang value of Garuda.
Oh my, my, that is a beautiful stamp.

Marc, can you read the bottom row?
Satang 50 "agad borisat"? Siam
Is that Thai for airmail?, my Thai is very rusty.

Rod - I do speak fluent Thai, but regrettably, even after 15 years here, I still can't read it. But Agad would mean "air" or "weather" in Thai. Borisat is "a company" as in business. I am not actually sure how you would say airmail in Thai though. Normally at the post office they just use the English word for airmail spoken with a Thai accent so I never thought about it. I would just say "Tang Agad" in Thai, which would translate to "By Air or Via Air". I will ask at the post office though what is the official word in Thai for airmail though and let you know.

Here are a couple of prettier new Thai stamps:

Rod - I was 2/3 of the way there on the word in Thai I gave you for airmail. The complete word is actually "Jawt-Mye Tang Agaht". Literally translates as "Letter By Air" or "Letter Via Air"

Definitely not the prettiest of stamps, but this 1930 airmail from Spain somehow has its appeal for me.
And yes, it's a pair (but couldn't shoot a decent pic of both).

Sorry about the quality of the pic, my scanner isn't working properly...

Some of the ones from the 1930 series Scott #C18-C30 are very nice too. It is a set of 13 and unfortunately I only have 10 out of the 13 stamps. This is one of them:

Aaaaah Goya in another mad moment. :)
I love his work.
I don't have this stamp, and it was nice to visit.
Are the three gargoyles holding boulders?

Welcome Tinus,

Hope you get your scanner up and working soon.

Was the guy perforating your example drunk?
he did a hell of a job on the top row.

Probably yes, and thanks rod.
I do have some with proper perforation, although I'm still wondering what the Costa Ricans were thinking when issuing this stamp. Unless it's called air wombat or something, I just don't get it...
And the Chilean stamp is somehow a bit, I don't know...unsettling with all the black and all the sharp edges. But maybe that's just me.

That "wombat" is the Paca
an interesting animal I have recently
seen on a discovery channel.
Apparently a prized and sought after meat

The interesting thing is this stamp was printed
in the govt printing works Tokyo.

The other air just happens to be the black shade of
a large set of similar stamps, with little aeroplanes
and envelopes in the frame.
The 80c was always the curious one for moi.
