So - in a kilo ware lot there were a fair amount of used but really nice Mexico Export series. I listed all the possible Scott numbers and sent them off to Steiner as I did not see them in the regular page listings. Bill responded with an incredibly detailed page listing. So,now, is there any way short of a micrometer and superior knowledge of paper coatings and composition to determine what I have on used stamps?

wheelman,
I have a number of cheat sheets (PDF) for the Exporta series to help determine Scott number. The Scott unlisted varieties (paper type, differing image widths) can be determined too. Send me your email address and I'll send them to you.
Regards, Robert

Floortrader - there are 19 pages that cover all the various paper thicknesses, sizes, perfs etc. Bill supplied two listings. One is the Scott standard and the second is a "more elaborate" listing that is not guaranteed for accuracy. Stampalbums.com is just blowing me away with the availability of pages. They are however copyrighted and I do not feel comfortable posting them here. Perhaps if Bill is looking on he can post a page.

Hi Wheelman

Download my tables for Mexico from the cloud. It is under Central America: https://app.box.com/s/7ydeclbexsaekclmrrhn

If you wish, you may download any of the tables, or the whole set. The only restriction is that they may not be published as there are no permissions to use the catalog numbers.

Hi Jerry:
Thank you so much. Great info and tool. Now I need to source some kind of UV light source.

Hi Wheelman

Hope the table helps.

I see you are in Talking Rock, Ga. I am in Atlanta. Where is Talking Rock?

Unfortunately, Stamps Unlimited is no longer in business (the end of an era for "brick and mortar" stamp stores). That was one place you could get the UV light.

Here is a Mexico site that I forgot to mention before:
http://galeon.com/timbresdemexico/m...ta/index.htm

The site is in Spanish, but Google does a fairly decent job of translating.

Hi Jerry - thanks for the info. Talking Rock is about half way between Jasper and Ellijay in the N Georgia mountains.

Another source for information about Mexico philately in generally is the MexiMail Forum found at:
http://meximail.org/index.php

It functions very much like the this forum, and you would have to join in order to post questions, but like Stamp Community Forum, it is free to participate.

There are categories for posting questions, including one for the Exporta issues. It has a limited following, but most questions are eventually answered by knowledgeable collectors of Mexico.

Floortrader - my apologies. I found on Steiner's disclaimer that he specifically allows posting on web pages. The attached example shows some details of the depth of these pages.
