Just wondering what the value is in these stamps and if there is any rare among the bunch? I am only new to this and all information will be much appreciated.
Thankyou.
John

(if anybody wants to see a close up of any of the stamps shown below , please just ask)

John

I'm afraid these are common stamps that pop up in most old albums of the period, and several are badly damaged. A couple of rows of Belgium in there for some reason!

On the first page (3rd,4th & 5th rows) you have also some Belgian stamps.
But, IMO,there are just cheap common stamps, and not in the best condition...

Hi guys

I noticed the Belgium stamps myself , I'm not sure why they were placed in there as there is a section for Belgium stamps included in the book. I guess condition is everything , but just checking to make sure there is no rare one among them. "agmasd56" I also have some Egyptian stamps , I might post them in this forum also.
Thankyou all for the help.

Hello johnsderry,

For me, I would keep the Germania (Michel) 84 I, 3 Pfg, with the Stuttgart Cancellation. STUTTGART N0 1 (VII) dated 22.06.1906.

Not a value but good cancellation.

If the last stamp in the first row (15pf Hindenburg) is from the first sorry second Hindenburg issue and has wavy lines watermark (not the later earlier lozanges), it may be of some value.

@same: ???

Hindenburg set with wavy lines watermark has been issued in 1932 (scott numbers 391-397). Every collector of Germany, even a beginner, knows this.

15pf with wavy lines watermark is Scott 394. I am too lazy to look into Michel at the moment.

It is a wavy lines watermark; Scott calls it "network." What else could it be?

The other one is lozenges (double-lined diamond shapes).

There were no other watermarks within inflation period and 1930s in Germany (except for very rare error watermark "crosses and circles").

Having what appears to be a 1936 postmark, the 15 pf. Hindenburg stamp most likely has the multiple swastika watermark. If this is the case, the stamp has minimal value.

Scott's name for that watermark is "network", Michel's is "waffle".

Yes, there were Hindenburg definitives with swastikas watermark later, I forgot. These are sold by the pound, unless never hinged.

I am beginning to forget things about German inflation and later issues, I've sold my complete collection of 1901-1945 Germany years ago. I am sure this period is historically fascinating for many collectors but it always depressed me enormously. What indescribable atrocities "progressive" people are capable of, when they believe themselves to be righteous and justified by their beliefs!
