As the title says I inherited a large (over 1,000) stamp collection. Some are very old (1800's). How do I get them appraised? Is it expensive? Can I post pictures here? Any response is appreciated.

Welcome.
Yes, posting images is the quickest way to get some feedback. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Thanks don. Is multiple pictures with many stamps acceptable? Like could I try and post all the stamps in one post?

It is best to first try some representative images rather than endless number of images. There are some experienced folks here and they will let you know if more images are desirable. I would start with 4-6 images; images can contain a full page of stamps.

The forum allows uploaded images of about 200kb or smaller. If you have higher resolution images, you can use the 'image optimizer' to reduce the size so they can be uploaded.

1,000 stamps are not that many for a stamp collection. Please post scans as a collection such as this may not have much $ value. But we shall see. Surprises happen.

Hi Kcarpenter831,

The best way for you to get an idea of what you have is to identify the stamps you have using some sort of stamp catalog.
In the USA, Scott catalogs are very popular.
Are your stamps from USA or world wide?
