Hi Everyone,

I am a new collector, looking at the possibility of trading some stamps. I am just starting out and have a Canadian and Worldwide collection. All the stamps I am talking about are used/cancelled. These trades are probably best for newer collectors. There are a few possibilities I have for trade:

1) Canada - I have over 300 different stamps from the 1950's to the mid 1980's. I would be looking for someone to trade stamps with from a country that I have few stamps with for a similar quantity of different stamps (am holding off on the US). All of these stamps are used/cancelled, and seem to be in good condition. I have stamps from another worldwide collection coming in a couple weeks which would likely bring this number up to 400 different stamps. This would be a great opportunity for someone who is new to collecting Canadian stamps to get a generous foothold into the country. I would be looking to do the same with another country.

2) Argentina - One of my purchases came with lots of dupes from Argentina. I could probably put together a few small sets 30 - 40 different, or would be happy to trade on a stamp by stamp basis for other Argentinian stamps I do not have (going to put together a collection). All these stamps are used and seem to be in varying condition. I am just in the process of organizing these stamps.

3) Worldwide Duplicates - From kiloware and between the two collections I have purchased (one yet to arrive). Willing to put together groups of different stamps and open to ideas.

This is my first time attempting to trade stamps, so please let me know if I am missing information. I am open to ideas/suggestions. I am willing to take pictures of stamps before a trade so you would know what you are getting, if there happens to be any interest. I am also interested in being fair, so open to ideas as to how best do that too!

I have strong interests in Iceland, British Commonwealth countries, and open to other ideas. Basically my goal is get stamps I do not have for the ones I do

Hi rod222,

I can paypal you the money for postage. No problem at all - and a very kind offer. Would you like anything from Canada? Would be happy to send some stamps in return or a nice cover with some stamps from this year ;-)

Hello Ryan,
your receipt of sending box of stamps.

We had a problem at the Post Office, I am in a small country town
and things are not as switched on as City
They do not handle large value stamps, but use till labels.

I took in the box, with 250g of stamps, which came out at $15
so I had to reduce to 150g (Thinking it was my mistake)
The postmistress failed to advise if I send it as a "large letter"
I could have stuffed in 250g

Anhows should be a lot to keep you busy sorting for the next month.

Thanks Rod! I really appreciate your kind gesture. It is extremely nice of you.

I am familiar with country life! Looking forward to having some fun sorting through the stamps. Hope all is well!

You're welcome, Ryan.

It's the right route for a new collector, gets heaps of stamps, sort, soak, muck around,
until you get swamped with stamps everywhere, gradually, you will tend towards
a particular country that appeals, then you can get serious (if one has the money)
to get specialised pages and start mounting a good country collection.

When you get frustrated with flipping through catalogues, try and source a 2009
Scott catalogue on CD Rom, and load it on your computer.
Collecting gets a heap more enjoyable.
Cheers

Ryan,
Argentina would be a great way to begin.

If you can afford it, or save for it, buy William Steiner's "Whole World"
stamp album pages, and start hinging (lightly) on his pages.,......was $38 when I purchased.

I have a 50% collection of Argentina, that I reckon I never paid a cent for,
just received them in early trades when I was beginning.

It is a tough country to watermark, but will be great fun

Hey Rod,

I am already strongly considering getting the Steiner stamp pages. It seems like a good route to take and I like the fact that you can print the pages as you need them, so you do not have to have a bunch of empty album pages. The catalogue on CD ROM sounds like a dream. Is that for the world?

I do enjoy the mucking around for stamps. I find it quite relaxing and enjoyable.

Nice page of Argentina stamps you have there! It has been a fun country to sort through. I even found I have a couple of the fake early Buenos Aires stamps ;-)

Yes, the world.
This item has been hugely copied illegally, be aware.
That will be peoples own choice. (so no comment)

I still buy the Scott Catalogue, but in the mutilated country specific,
there is a gentleman online that cuts up Catalogues, and sells country specific pages
for the 1 country collector.

Aha! the forged Buenos Aires you have already
Every Argentine collector, comes across these .

I will keep my eyes peeled for that world catalogue on CD ROM. It would be an awesome resource to have. I have mixed feelings about Scott's numbering system, but it sure comes in handy.

Which.how many countries are you currently collecting? I really prefer being able to access information digitally when I can, saves lots of space! I love books, but for information like this digital allows for better searching possibilities. I assume the catalogue on CD ROM has a search functionality by different criteria?

The Buenos Aires forgery was a good ride for about 2 seconds! Made me smile and found some interesting information about them on here and elsewhere.

I collect every country in the world, Oceanguy.

(Jack of all stamps, Master of none)

Choose your Catalogue numbering system wisely,
Scott is hands above the rest in a worldwide sense,
there are vastly better Specialty Catalogues for country specific.
