Keeping this thread alive, a question! What is the hardest postal stationery country/item for you to find for your collection? Mine are all of the little (towns) in Europe that issued postal stationery. Catalog lists them cheap. One never sees them. One small country, Andorra, if very hard to find postal stationery items for me. One would think that with two issuing post offices (Spanish and French) one could find something!.!.!)

I think postal stationary should have more exposure
on this forum.

It's only a small part of my collecting interest but
I have a few items which I like.

Austria 1927

100th Death Anniversary for my favourite composer
Ludwig van Beethoven,

The card shows some of the numerous lodgings he stayed
in while living in Vienna.

This is one of my favourite items of postal stationery:

From Rajkot State, on the Kathiawar Peninsula in India. Rajkot only ever issued postal stationery - never stamps.

This is the 1 Pice of 1933-37, with the signature of District & Sessions Court Judge H.R. Buch, who also directly supervised the State Post Office.

Well, Andorra's stationery is hard to find gone through post like this, from 1986:

Or like this one that I bought from the Andorra French P.O. on one of my lasts visits to Andorra, 5 years ago.

Mint stationary is much easier to find:

Anyway, I must say that I live in Barcelona, Catalonia, just 250 km from Andorra. We Catalans, share with Andorrans language, culture and traditions. Andorra is a common place to go for skying, shopping or trekking. Wenever I go there, I try get something postal or philatelic, although is not always feasible if you go on week-ends.

Cursus: Yes I remember out previous conversation about Andorra. I mentioned I had been iin your part of the world, up the coast at L'Estartit for several vacations, laying on the Costa Brava beaches, drinking Quarenta y Tres with bitter lemon and eating Paella when hungry. Trip down to BArcelona to the bullfights. You were going to send me some Andorra items.

I have found a couple since our talk, but would like some more, at least one or so French and one or so Spanish items.

Here is another Canadian one that is a little different. It is a QV postal card with a "Negative Crown" cancel. This was an experimental applied cancellation to this card.

Chimo

This one, from Bhopal, has always slightly puzzled me:

At this time, the Bhopal postal system was only for use by government employees, not the general public, and it only operated within Bhopal State.

So why feature tourist views (there was another, similar card issued at the same time), and why leave so little room for actual correspondence? The cards aren't particularly common, so they must have been a relative flop if they were directed at collectors.

Here are a few of another one of my specialised collection topic "Trieste":

1st, Trieste under Austrian rule (austrian Empire)..

2nd, Triese under Italian occupation...

Trieste just after WW II occupation (Italy turn over)

Only two eras I don't have yet, are the US Allied forces occupational period and the Jugoslavia ownership period. So goes the chase.

I'm not sure that this fits under 'Postal Stationery', it isn't recorded as such in Ed Deschl's The Comprehensive India States Postal Stationery Listing, but is at least a form of stationery, from Bussahir State:

AFAIK, no used examples are known - but I try never to say never about anything associated with the Indian States.

This Jammu & Kashmir State postcard

is in terrible shape, but that's hardly surprising in view of the trip it made around the backwoods of Jammu around 1891.

It's in what is known to specialists as State B, having the large rivet head visible below and to the left of the Sun emblem. The rivet became necessary because the lettering had begun to slip, as you can see in this example

which is in better condition, possibly because it travelled only between the Winter capital (Jammu) and the Summer capital (Srinagar) of Jammu & Kashmir State.
