"Castellers" (Human towers) on a 1970 el Vendrell (80 km SW of Barcelona) cinderella. A very Catalan activity.

Some cinderellas issued in 1991 by the Club "Emprius" (socialist) to honour the, then Major of Barcelona, Pasqual Maragall I Mira (Barcelona, 1941). He was major of our city from 1982 to 1997, being his best known achievement, the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. Later, 2004-2007, he was president of Catalonia.
The cinderellas show the portrait of Pasqual Maragall and some public works he comanded.
You Can See (left to right)
1.Parc de l'Espanya Industrial. Peña Ganchegui, 1985
2.Collserola Communications Tower. Sir Norman Foster 1991
3.Monument "Elogi de l'Aigua" (Water Praise). Eduardo Chillida 1987
4.Bac de Roda Bridge. Santiago Calatrava, 1987
5. Sculpture "Dona I Ocell" (Woman and bird), Joan Gardy Artigas & Joan Miró, 1983, at the Joan Miró Parc
6. Palau Sant Jordi Arata Isozaki, 1990

The printing is quite poor, but I hope you'll enjoy them.

July 1992, the Olympic Flame seen from inside the Barcelona Olympic Stadium. All the best for our British friends, as the London Olympics are "at hand".

Thank you very much Michael, for your comments. Antoni Gaudi was actually a genius and a keen supporter of Catalonia's independence. That's why, here, is widely revered. A cinderellas sheet of the 2002 Filabarna Philathelic Exhibition, held on the Sagrada Familia Temple itself in September/October 2002, to celebrate the 150 anniversary of Gaudi's birth.
There, you can see three medals with the architect's portrait and two views of la Sagrada Familia. On the upper row, there're the medal's faces, while the reverses are shown on the lower one.
Sheet #6 of a 6 cinderellas sheets series.

This is a beautiful presentation and some stunning stamps. I am a Barca football fan so I love finding those as well. This deserves a whole catalog. Is there one? Thanks for all of the cultural info, Ray.

Thank you very much Ray for your nice comments. Being myself from Barcelona I'm also a keen supporter of FC Barcelona, whose stadium you can see on this cinderella, from the "Catalonia on stamps" series.

As for the cataloging of Catalan cinderellas, there's not such. Sometimes, I think of writing it by myself. But the task is so huge, that I don't dare.

Cinderella sheet issued in 2001 by the "Friends of Gaudí" in Reus, the (perhaps!) birtplace of the architect I bought it, together with purple and black copies, in 2003 at the Batlló (Barcelona) house.

On the upper row, you can see Gaudi's portrait (Barcelona, Catalunya, 1878), Vicens House (Barcelona, Catalunya, 1883-1885), Astorga Bishop's Palace (Astorga, Spain,1892), Botines House (León, Spain, 1891-1894), El Capricho house (Comillas, Spain, 1883-1885), Sagrada Familia Temple (Barcelona, Catalunya, 1882-?), Sainte Therese School (Barcelona, Catalunya, 1889-1894), Güell Park (Barcelona, Catalunya, 1900-1914), Batlló House chair (Barcelona, Catalunya,1904), Friends of Gaudí emblem (Reus, Catalunya, 1955)

Wow Cursus, that is a stunning sheet.....I want some ! .

Gaudi was most certainly creative and his works certainly caught my eye when I was in Barcelona. My daughter was teething at the time and it was not always easy to concentrate on the sights before us. But I will never forget Gaudi.

Now my little girl is preparing to do her army service......how time flies.

I'll drop you a line later about a few things.
Thanks for showing more amazing material from Catalonia !

Thank you very much Mike for your, always nice and encouraging, comments. Perhaps, Gaudí, would deserve a thread for himself... I have many stamps, meters, postmarks, aside the cinderellas shown here.

By the moment, I'm showing the two other colours of the cinderella sheet. I'm sorry to say Mike that I've never seen since 2003, when I bought them. It's possible that they're been sold on souvenir touristplaces, which Catalans seldom visit...
